Article: WHAT IS WELNNESS FOR YOU

WHAT IS WELNNESS FOR YOU

WHAT IS WELNNESS FOR YOU

We are all chasing wellness. We all have our own version of what wellness looks like.

We have everything imaginable these days to help optimise our health and longevity.
We have injections and IV drips, facials, massages, infrared saunas and sound baths. But few people wish to work for the real rewards.

The World Health Organization defines health as "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". What are you doing to ensure your wellness is in check?

As a PT, I recognise that what we all want is to feel well in ourselves.

In an automated world, with data and intelligence increasingly now the domain of computers, movement is what renews us. Movement is a tool for agency, nervous system regulation, and reconnecting with our body. We cannot automate or outsource our own physicality, mentality or emotions. We must do the work. Let's be more human.

The link between somatic work, movement, and psychological well-being determines how well we feel in ourselves.

Feeling stressed and anxious is a default setting for most in our modern era. We cannot think our way out of anxiety. We need to give our mind's a moment to breathe and activate our body. When the body is busy, the mind is empty. Enlivening our body reminds us what we are capable of and it brings us into the present.

Practise hard things - live an easy life. Do the work.
