Article: DO YOU NEED AN ANSWER NOW?

DO YOU NEED AN ANSWER NOW?

DO YOU NEED AN ANSWER NOW?

Have you ever felt stuck? Have you ever struggled for inspiration to help move you forward? Have you ever needed an idea or a solution so badly that you become fixated on finding one, to the exclusion of other thoughts?

While we sit, confined by the 10-by-12" view of our screen or contained by the 5-by-5-by-3m cubic room we're in, the likelihood of finding a breakthrough is low. Add to this scenario the preoccupation that time is of the essence, we severely restrict the brain's capacity to think freely and deeply. We must let our unconscious do the thinking. Get up and move.

The existence of unconscious mental processes is a universally accepted truth. The brain percolates, files and recalls information without us being conscious of it. Have you ever struggled to find the word you're looking for, only to blurt it out an hour later completely out of context, bemusing the person(s) in front of you with your sudden delight? You can now close the file in your brain. You got what you were searching for.

When we want an idea or we need fresh thinking around a problem, our unconscious mind continues to think while our conscious mind is happily distracted by what's happening now - what we see, hear, smell, taste and feel.

Creativity is not a linear process. There is no better way to let your unconscious mind work than by moving. When the body is busy, the conscious mind quiets, while your unconscious mind imagines possibilities, makes connections, and explores permutations of the hypothesis.

If you want answers - Move.  Exploration through locomotion.
